Status of quantum computing


The current situation in the field of quantum computing is driven by very few standardised configurations of individual modules and is focused on highly specialised physical and scientific research areas. Complex networking structures, a missing documentation of components or application scenarios prevent the scalable use of quantum computing in an industrial environment.

There is no doubt about the benefits of quantum technology.

Current situation

    • DDS, DAC‘s…
  • External data exchange via GbE, PCIe;
  • Implementation of own HW is complicated
  • Proprietary systems (manufacture-specific)
  • Not flexible, limited functions

This is our challenge:
powerBridge Computer is developing a benchmark-capable,
high-performance, series-capable, integrated system for industrial automation based on quantum computing.

Goal, Perspective and Potential


The technological challenge, economic viability and cost discipline are the keys for market acceptance and therefore a central indicator of a successful innovation.

The overall focus of powerBridge Computer is to demonstrate the innovative capacity of SMEs in the field of demand- and user-orientated development and the implementation of quantum technology. The aim is to position Germany as a centre for leading technology for quantum-based industrial automation applications.

Task for the interdisciplinary team

Our task is to transfer MicroTCA.4 as a technical standard from research, science and industry to user-orientated quantum technology.

The well-engineered MicroTCA.4 standard – a development largely driven by Helmholtz/DESY (Deutsches Elektronen Synchrotron) in Germany – forms the technological basis of our developments.

powerBridge Computer is transferring best-practice solutions from high energy physics applications to the industrial needs (and requirements) of quantum technology.

Prototypes are already in the test phase with potential users.
